Crate Training
If you choose to incorporate this as your pug house training method, be sure to provide your pug with a crate just big enough for her to comfortably stand and turn around in. The concept behind crate training is to teach your pug that she is able to control her urge to go. She’ll realize that when she needs to relieve herself she doesn’t have to right in that instant and eventually she won’t. This is because like us, your pug wants a clean and cozy space to dwell in and won’t want to lay in the mess.

Bell Training
Pugs are often regarded as an intelligent breed of dogs and one method of pug house training, is to utilize bells. Suspend bells from the door that leads out to your backyard or wherever your pug’s area to go may be. Gently guide her paw in repeatedly touching the bells hanging from the door. Take her to her spot immediately, thereafter. She will eventually associate that when she taps on the bells, she will be taken outside to relieve herself. To successfully incorporate this method, you must keep an ear out and be receptive to her ringing. Otherwise, she will try to alert you with barking or simply go wherever she pleases.
Schedule Based Training (SBT)
The SBT technique teaches your pug to relieve herself on a routine basis. By applying the understanding that it generally requires 4-6 hours for your pug to digest meals, (5 being a good medium) you schedule potty times accordingly. On one hand this pug house training method is unique in that it does not require any supplies to implement but do keep in mind that pugs dislike change and variance especially when it involves their feeding times. If success in the shortest time possible is what you are aiming for, make sure someone can assist with the routine if you need to be elsewhere, sticking to the schedule is crucial
